XXIV Rallye Elba Storico-Trofeo Locman Italy: engines running tonight with th stages of the "Parata-Volterraio "and "Capoliveri"

97 crews checked for the rally and 20 for the "Graffiti". Crews are coming from ten different countries.

The XXIV Rallye Elba Storico-Trofeo Locman Italy, with the administrative and checks technical Scrutineering which took place this morning in Capoliveri entered its decisive phase.
The sun, the sea and a plateau of high level of crews are part of a mix that are preparing for a weekend of great effect at Elba Island, continuing the tradition of one of the rallies among the best loved in the world.
97 of the 100 crews entered in the traditional rally and 20 of 21 in the "Graffiti" checked, confirming that these are two very high profile events, so fascinating to see and exciting to participate.
The ceremonial start will be from 19.00 with a parade of the flags of the ten nation represented in the race this year.
THREE ELIGIBILITIES OFFICIAL (TWO "INTERNATIONAL") TO CELEBRATE THE 25 YEARS OF THE "GRAFFITI"
The XXIV Rallye Elba Storico-Trofeo Locman Italy will be the tenth round of the twelve of the FIA European Historic Rally and for the cancellation of the Rally of Mugello Stradale will also be the final act of the Italian Rally Championship. This year, as previously noted, the validity officers will be three. The perfect number. At the eligibility of European and Italian Historic Rally Championships, will added a third one, for the "Elba Graffiti". After the experiment of 2011 asked specifically by the F.IA. to arrange a regularity rally, in fact this year, on the occasion of his 25th edition, the Graffiti (born a year before the Rally Elba Storico) will be the seventh round of the 11 scheduled for the European Trophy.
This specialty is an evolution of classical regularity, certainly with more agonism.
The rankings are determined based on the performance of the competitors on the regularity test sections where wins who is more accurate in respect of the hourly averages, not always equal, established from time to time by the organizers, which will arrange even surprise checks along the route.
A MASS OF TROPHIES
A location so exclusive, so fascinating will catalyze the attention all round the world of historic rallies. Why even this year the Rally Elba Storico will be eligible for some important trophies, which will certainly give value to the event. There will be the Trofeo A112 Abarth, the "Trofeo della Regina" ("of the Queen"), dedicated to the Lancia Fulvia HF, the "Trofeo Fiat 127", in addition to Challenge Rally Autostoriche 2012 and the Challenge Italia 2012.
THE ROUTE WITH THE NEWS OF THE "PARATA-VOLTERRAIO" AND THE "POGGIO-LA PILA"
Still three days of competition, with a scheduled departure from Capoliveri tonight at 20.00. The crews will face once the novelty of 2012, the "Parata-Volterraio" (14.260 km), two names of stages which alone are already linked to the myth and that together they will. . . great things. It ´a new version, that will certainly be appreciated by lovers of the Elban race. From Cavo to Rio nell´Elba to face up the "Parata" and from there the "Volterraio" in the direction of Magazzini, admiring, in the downhill, the Gulf of Portoferraio. The other novelty is stage "Poggio-La Pila" (15.500 km), practically the "Due Mari" in a raced version up to the eighties, with the passage through the village of Sant´Ilario and characterized from the end with some spectacular winding down.
THE TIMES OF RACE
As already mentioned, the start will be tonight at Capoliveri to 20.00, after the competitors must compete on one of the temples of the rally world, a little more than fourteen kilometers from the famous "Parata-Volterraio." After the rally will come back into Capoliveri, with the homonymous urban stage (Km 4.760), repeated by popular demand for the third year, and the arrival of the first part of the race is scheduled for 23.07, that is when the competitors enter the night regroupment.
Tomorrow, Friday, September 21 the first stage will resume: from 08.30 to 16.42, will duel on four further stages, "Parata-Nisporto" (Km 12.140) in the second round will be shorter, ("Parata-Nisportino", Km 10.300) and the "Monte Perone" (14.250 km). Also Graffiti crews will start the race, following the rally.
The closing day, Saturday, September 22, the challenges start at 08.30 to wave the checkered flag at 16.40, also in this case Capoliveri. Again duels on "Parata-Nisporto" (Km 12.140), then the aforementioned "Poggio-La Pila" (15.500 km) and the classic "Monumento" (5.900 Km) In total the rally so far 508.330 km, of which 137.040 are timed, ie 26.96% of the distance.
