THE XXXVII RALLYE ELBA STORICO – TROFEO LOCMAN ITALY PRESENTS ITS ROADS

The event, scheduled for September 25–27, is approaching the closing date for entries and is ready to host a new chapter in sporting history while carrying forward its tradition.

Livorno, September 9, 2025 – The days are quickly counting down to the start of the XXXVII Rallye Elba Storico – Trofeo Locman Italy, scheduled for September 24–27, the eighth round of the ten-event FIA European Historic Rally Championship and the seventh (penultimate) round of the Italian Historic Rally Championship.
Entries remain open until tomorrow, September 10, for this iconic challenge promoted by ACI Livorno Sport, one of the most eagerly awaited events both on the continental and national calendars.
Three days of competition await, featuring both the European and Italian championships as well as the “Graffiti” regularity event, all contested on the island’s most famous and fascinating roads. At ACI Livorno Sport—the organizer and promoter on behalf of ACI Livorno—everything is ready to ensure continuity of tradition and the unique allure of the challenges that have made the Elba rally legendary. Entry numbers are already high and constantly growing, pointing to another high-level edition.
As tradition dictates, the event has a dual purpose: to promote motorsport and, at the same time, to extend the tourist season, giving drivers, teams, and fans the opportunity to enjoy the island’s beauty during the mild early autumn days. The numbers speak for themselves: in the last edition, twelve nations were represented on the entry list and over 8,000 people were present, including drivers, teams, staff, and spectators.
To strengthen the combination of sport and territorial promotion, the 2025 route will feature some changes in both itinerary and schedule, with the aim of offering new emotions to competitors and spectators alike while showcasing every corner of the island.

A ROUTE SHAPED BY TRADITION
A format revised in some parts but faithful to its identity: the XXXVII edition once again promises an exciting, enjoyable, and highly technical challenge. Ten special stages are scheduled across three days: Leg 1 in Capoliveri, Leg 2 in the western part of the island, and Leg 3 in the east. A balanced mix of technical challenge and spectacle, designed without being invasive to everyday life on Elba.
The overall route measures 366.960 km, of which 133.580 are competitive, for another edition set to write a further chapter in the history of this legendary rally.
Let’s take a closer look at the stages that will bring this edition to life.

Special Stage No. 1 – "CAPOLIVERI" (10.480 km)
Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 25, 2025, at 21:00
For the fifteenth consecutive year, Capoliveri will host a night-time “city” stage, thanks to the invaluable cooperation of the local administration and a large group of enthusiasts.
Starting in Via Mellini, the stage runs through the historic centre, brushing past the main square, before tackling the narrow village streets with steep climbs, descents, and blind corners—where even the smallest mistake can cost dearly.
Special Stages 2/4 – "MONUMENTO" (7.480 km)
SS2 – Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 26, 2025, at 09:45
SS4 – Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 26, 2025, at 14:05
The classic “Monumento” stage, one that has truly written the history of the Rallye and of rallying internationally. It returns to being run from Lacona to Bonalaccia.
The section within Lacona is very technical, with narrow, twisting roads, quick direction changes, and slightly dirty asphalt. Exiting Lacona, the stage joins the provincial road, where a fairly fast climb will favour more powerful cars—at least until the crest. The final two kilometres descend on good asphalt.
Particularly popular spectator spots include the curves through Lacona and the Golfi junction.
Special Stage 3 – "DUE MARI" (19.030 km)
Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 26, 2025, at 10:35
Special Stage 5 – "MARCIANA MARINA–MARCIANA–CAMPO" (18.340 km)
Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 26, 2025, at 15:25
The Monte Perone stages will again be run north to south. They cover the road section starting at Marciana Marina, at the sports field on SP25, through Marciana and Poggio. “Due Mari” starts from Via dei Pini in Marciana Marina but, unlike previous editions, turns at Lavacchio towards Poggio and into the village, with challenging hairpins such as the “Publius” bend—a favourite viewing spot.
Both stages share the central stretch, the toughest part: nearly 10 km of the Monte Perone provincial road, with climbs, descents, corners, hairpins, and dense vegetation, often with debris from leaves—truly demanding for both cars and crews.
The routes split after the Accolta junction: “Due Mari” finishes at La Pila after a series of hairpins, while “Marciana Marina–Marciana–Campo” ends in the village of San Piero.
Special Stages 6/8 – "INNAMORATA – ANNA PUCCINI" (9.850 km)
SS6 – Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 27, 2025, at 09:10
SS8 – Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 27, 2025, at 13:20
Starting from Capoliveri, both stages descend towards Morcone, Pareti and Innamorata, before looping back towards the town via Via Luperini.
These stages are highly technical, with varied surfaces, changing gradients, and demanding urban sections with constant curves—pushing crews to the limit.
Special Stage 7 – "VOLTERRAIO–CAVO" (26.940 km)
Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 27, 2025, at 10:10
Special Stage 9 – "VOLTERRAIO" (5.680 km)
Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 27, 2025, at 14:20
Special Stage 10 – "BAGNAIA–CAVO" (18.450 km)
Theoretical passage of 1st competitor: September 27, 2025, at 14:40
The longest stage of the rally, starting from Rio Elba and finishing at Cavo via Nisporto and Bagnaia—almost 27 km of bends and hairpins with ever-changing surfaces. A fixture of the event since 2018, it combines three historic stages: “Volterraio,” “Falconaia,” and “Parata.” Its creation was made possible through collaboration with local administrations due to its significant territorial impact.
Technically, it is a true endurance test for crews and cars, offering everything from the Volterraio descent to Falconaia’s hairpins to the passage past San Pietro church in Rio Elba. Here, the driver truly makes the difference.

The September 24 Conference in Capoliveri
Not to be forgotten is the important appointment in Capoliveri on September 24 at 11:00 at the Teatro Flamingo: the conference “Past and Present in Napoleon’s Footsteps.” Organized in collaboration with Il Tirreno, the event will explore the deep ties between Elba, Napoleon Bonaparte, and the rally’s sporting tradition. This is the third such initiative, combining past and present, with memory as a driver of identity and social cohesion.
The President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, will once again attend, alongside ACI Livorno President Marco Fiorillo, ACI Livorno Sport President Luciano Fiori, Capoliveri Mayor Walter Montagna, Portoferraio Mayor Tiziano Nocentini, and Professor Giovanni Cipriani.
